Abstract

The isolation of transferrin from human, rabbit, rat and fish sera has been described. The purified transferrins were characterized by amino acid and carbohydrate composition, by sedimentation coefficient, molecular weight and iron binding capacity. Antibodies against purified transferrins were isolated. These species specific antibodies can be used for immunochemical determinations of transferrins.
