Abstract

Abstract Sigmoid colon perforation is uncommon in amoebic colitis. Most individuals with an Entamoeba histolytica infection are asymptomatic, but some develop severe invasive disease. Amoebic colitis is commonly reported in the Indian plains over the years. Cecum is the most common site of perforation of colon in amoebic colitis. Few cases have reported acute fulminating necrotizing amoebic colitis. We report a case of a 42-year-old male patient who was found to have an isolated sigmoid colon perforation due to amoebic colitis.
