Abstract

Dislocation of the intermediate cuneiform is a rare injury. Displacement usually occurs in a dorsal direction and is generally associated with injury to the midtarsal joint or tarso-metatarsal joint complex. We report a case of isolated plantar dislocation of the intermediate cuneiform and discuss such injuries in the light of our understanding of the structure and function of the foot. A review of published literature is presented. Injuries may be the result of direct or indirect trauma, which has implications for injury severity, management, and long-term outcome.
