Abstract
Background: Isolated limb perfusion or infusion is a well established and successfull method for the treatment of solid tumors at the limbs. Usually a tourniquet at the root of the limb is used to enable isolated therapy of the affected region. Very good response rates with a low toxicity profile are achieved with this technique. However, the pelvic region unfortunately is excluded from the isolated treatment circuit by the tourniquets that are placed below potential metastases. We here present a new technique, which allows inclusion of the pelvic region during isolated limb infusion to an individually adjustable extend.
