Abstract

Abstract Background: Isolated fallopian tube torsion is a rare cause of pelvic pain in the pediatric population. Case: A case of a 12-year-old girl who underwent laparoscopy subsequently converted to mini-laparotomy and detorsion of the fallopian tube is presented and similar published cases are reviewed. Conclusions: Twenty-eight cases of isolated torsion of a previously normal fallopian tube have been reported in the English-language literature. Although rare, isolated fallopian tube torsion should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pelvic pain, as timely intervention is crucial to the viability of the fallopian tube.
