Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of topological variants, control methods, and design of the DAB converter suitable for PV system applications. The DAB converter provides the inclusive benefit of high voltage gain and harvesting maximum power from the PV panel. The high reliability and efficient MPPT scheme are important topics of research for DAB control as the PV systems suffer from frequent voltage change and the output power depends on weather conditions. Thereby, the control method plays a vital role in providing a satisfactory output. The chapter explores various topological variants and control strategies of DAB converter, reported in recent time, which can be suitable for PV systems. The advanced control techniques provide a fast and efficient control for the converter in stand-alone as well as for grid integration. The controller’s accurate reference tracking performance ensures a stable and fixed output voltage under load change and input voltage fluctuations. The comparison between various topological variants and control techniques is presented in the chapter to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of DAB converter in PV application.
