Abstract

Isobaric heat capacity (CPPT relationship) of hexadecane has been measured as a function of temperature between (323 and 473) K and at pressures up to 25 MPa using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC, ITS-400) with an automatically data acquisition system. The expanded uncertainty of the temperature (T), pressure (P), and heat capacity (CP) measurements at the 95% confidence level with a coverage factor of k = 2 is estimated to be, 15 mK, 0.05%, and 2.5%, respectively. Based on the measured CPPT data the second temperature derivatives of specific volume ∂2V/∂T2P=-T-1∂CP/∂PT, enthalpy ΔH(P,T) and entropy ΔS(P,T) differences, as a function of temperature and pressure have been calculated.
