Abstract
A method for the spectrophotometric determination of tin has been described which involves the extraction of tin(II) xanthate complex into chloroform. The yellow colo´ured complex shows λ m a x at 350 nm. Beer's law is valid over the range 1-20 μg Sn/ml with a Sandell sensitivity of 0.013 μg cm - 2 . Interference studies have been carried out. Gun metal and some synthetic samples have been analyzed to test the applicability of the method.
