Abstract
W artykule omowiono islandzką gospodarke w okresie od zasiedlenia wyspy az po kres funkcjonowania tzw. Wolnej Wspolnoty (ok. 930–1264). Dzieki analizie treści staroislandzkich źrodel narracyjnych i prawnych oraz wynikow badan archeologicznych odtworzono strategie adaptacyjne osadnikow do warunkow naturalnych wyspy, zrekonstruowano średniowieczną islandzką strukture spoleczną, z uwzglednieniem relacji pracowniczych, zarysowano gospodarke hodowlaną oraz wewnetrzny i zewnetrzny obieg towarowo-pieniezny.
