Abstract
Abstract : The ultimate source of Islamic radical motivated terrorism and its related violence lies at the extreme radical religious level of Islam. Therefore, to understand Islamic radical terrorism and its related violence and hatred toward the West, it is first necessary to present a brief history of Islam. With that foundation laid, a definition of religious terrorism will be discussed followed by an examination of the Islamic view of the world. Next, Western views and perceptions of Islam specifically targeting Islamic radicals will be explained, since many in the West look at Islamic radicals with apprehension and fear. Finally, two crucial questions pertaining to the current situation between the West and the radicals will be explored: Why do Islamic radicals hate the West, and what can be done to ease tensions between the two?
