Abstract

This article aims to investigate employees’ perceptions about the impact of religion on entrepreneurship activities (EAs), behaviour, and responsibilities among Muslims in North Macedonia. Apart from other factors that affects economic development, individuals seem to consider religion as an important element that shapes entrepreneurship in a community. Therefore, the article examines perceptions of Muslims regarding the relationship between Islamic religion and entrepreneurship and whether Islam is perceived as having an impact on the entrepreneurial behaviour. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, where the data was collected through a structured questionnaire. A total of 352 responses were collected from employees within businesses in North Macedonia. The data was analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with SmartPLS. The results revealed that religion is perceived to have a positive significant impact on Muslims entrepreuneurs in their EAs, behaviour and responsibilities. This study provides knowledge on how Islamic EAs are perceived by different business employees in their entrepreneurial activities from an Islamic perspective in North Macedonia.
