Abstract

The objective of this paper involved an analysis to democracy in Islam. The paper tried to answer the question of how democratic and/or Islamic some countries in the Islamic world are. The paper analysed 59 countries using data from the World Values Survey 2005-2008. It measured several variables such as, Religiosity, Islamic Practices, Political Importance, Family Importance and the GDP. The paper concluded that there was absolutely no evidence to suggest that either Islam is anti-democratic or democratic, it is clearly subjective.
