Abstract
The year 2014 has been declared “The International Year of Crystallography.” Coincidentally, it is the 50th anniversary of the death of Isidor Fankuchen, a premier pioneering practitioner of this discipline. The current study discusses some of Fankuchen’s contributions to our understanding of molecular structure and how he personally and professionally impacted the author.
