Abstract

While payer status has been previously suggested as a factor in the transfer of surgical patients, prior studies have focused only on the admittance patterns of Level I trauma centers. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of insurance status on the likelihood of transfer for trauma patients from Lower-Level and Non-Trauma center hospitals within California.
