Abstract

Single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) for colon surgery was first reported in 2008. Since then many retrospective and clinical trials were published comparing the outcomes between conventional multiport laparoscopic colon resections and single incision surgery. The majority of these studies did not show any superiority to single incision surgery over the conventional laparoscopy. On the other hand, the available literature showed some disadvantages to SILS in regards to instrument triangulation and a longer learning curve. In this review article, we will discuss the current status of SILS and compare the outcomes to other techniques of surgery for right colon cancer.
