All The association of atrial fibrillation (AF) and the severity and control of hypertension (HTN) remains unknown.We assessed the prevalence of AF based on blood pressure (BP) control and treatment resistance. We analyzed data from the Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) study of 30,018 participants whowere classified into 6 groups: normotension (BP < 120/80 mmHg with no antihypertensive medication use, n1⁄44,386), prehypertension (BP 121-139/81-89 mmHg with no antihypertensive medication use, n1⁄45,916), controlled HTN (BP< 140/90 mmHg on 3 antihypertensive medications, n1⁄412,294), uncontrolled HTN (BP 140/90 mmHg on 2 antihypertensive medications, n1⁄45,587),
