Abstract

With so many women working in the non-profit sector, there is a need to determine if a glass ceiling exists for women leaders who seek top-level management positions in this part of the economy. This paper will examine the cultural dimensions of women's leadership styles and their potential impact on women seeking high-level leadership roles in both the profit and the non-profit sectors. Organisational strategies for recognising and potentially overcoming the glass ceiling in the non-profit sector will be offered, as well as suggestions for future research to allow for comparative analyses to be made among non-profit sector organisations.
