Abstract
The fundamental physical requirements: no anomalies, no new color assignments, no vector-like contributions, and no QN-degeneracy, are combined to fix uniquely the minimal non-trivial fermion representation within the framework of an SU(5) × SU(5) unified theory. The spontaneous emergence of a 5-dimensional generation structure is correlated in a natural way with the primary breakdown of vertical SU(5) into SU(3) × SU(2) × U(1). Simultaneously, the five predicted Georgi-Glashow generations turn out to be classified at medium energies by means of an effective SO(5) horizontal symmetry.
