Abstract
The Department of Health is currently discussing the implementation of clinical supervision for nurses and health visitors (Butterworth and Faugier, 1994). The intention is that, as a result of clinical supervision and peer review, nurses and health visitors will be able to develop their practice through reflection. This new process will not be enshrined in legislation, unlike our own supervisory process.
