Abstract
Moderate‐certainty evidence shows that for adults who smoke and are interested in quitting, intensive (up to eight texts a day) mobile phone texting interventions given over one week to six months increase smoking cessation rates at six to 12 months compared with no text messaging, but quit rates were low in both groups (on average, 76 vs 49 per 1000 people stopped smoking).
