Abstract

This paper expresses some personal concerns regarding the relationship between nursing education and research, and between nursing practice and research. My aim is to challenge, and to encourage in-depth consideration of, the implications of terms such as 'research-based practice', and more particularly, the concept that 'nursing should be a research-based profession'.
