Abstract

It frequently is hard to differentiate between students gifted in a general sense and those gifted in music. While students gifted in music exhibit behavior that is specific to that genre, there is sufficient overlap between music and general giftedness for misidentification. Such misidentification can present serious problems because music programs, more commonly instrumental music programs, can become a trap for the academically gifted student.
