Abstract

Accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI), delivering post lumpectomy radiotherapy over 1-5 days is gaining popularity due to its convenience, safety and efficacy in a well selected group of patients. However there are many techniques for delivering APBI including intra-cavitary balloon catheters. No one technique has been shown to be superior to another. The purpose of this study is to evaluate two different intracavitary balloon catheters (single-lumen balloon (SLB) (MammoSite) vs. multi-lumen balloon (MLB) (Contura) in APBI in terms of dosimetric coverage and normal tissue sparing.
