Abstract

An updated definition, new harmonised measurement methods and rules for systematically counting particles are now in place to support the identification of nanomaterials for regulatory purposes in the European Union. With these three essential elements, EU legislators have the necessary tools to achieve regulatory convergence for addressing nanomaterials across legislation and establish a level playing field for all stakeholders.
