Abstract

The study explores the prospects and constrains of the RFID technology implemented in SRM university central library and its performance based on the feedback received from the employees who were involved in implementation of RFID system. The data were collected from 19 employees employing questionnaire using census method and informal interview. The result shows that about 90% of the respondents felt that performance of RFID Self Service Kiosk was highly satisfied; the time taken for RFID implementation is minimum of 6 months (42.11%) and the maximum of 12 months (31.58%); RFID is preferably used for circulation (78.95%) followed by security (31.58%), user statistics (31.58%), and stack management (10.53%); and active tags (68.42%) were used the most followed by semi passive tags (21.05%), and passive tags (10.53%).
