Abstract

Human bodies, in the natural radioactive background of earth, are radioactive. There are presence of the radionuclides, 40K, 14C and 3H, as the isotopic components of the respective naturally occurring body-constituent elements. The average effective internal radiation dose for a 70 kg reference man has been estimated to be about 0.3 mSv/y which in comparison with the accepted International Standard of radiation exposure dose of 3 mSv/y for a man, may not be so harmful.
