Abstract

OBJECTIVE: In recent years, serum C-reactive protein CRP has revealed dose-response relationships to various diseases such as arteriosclerosis, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and metabolic syndrome by using the high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) assay method. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued guidelines for the use of hs-CRP in clinical practice for CVD, stating relative risk categories (low, average, high) corresponding to approximate tertile values (<0.1, 0.1 to 0.3, >0.3 mg/dl, respectively).
