Abstract

There is considerable evidence that neural mechanisms contribute to the pathophysiology and symptomatology of asthma. There is a complex interaction between inflammation and neural control of airways with effects of inflammatory mediators on neurotransmission and neurotransmitters, in turn, modulating the inflammatory response in the airways.
