Abstract

The two-step potential model, proposed previously for the quark-antiquark system, is now extended to show that ψ′(3.7) resonance is the radially excited state of ψ(3.1) resonance. The total decay width for ψ′ obtained as 612 ± 100 keV, is found in agreement with experiments. Further it is noted that the contribution from the process ψ′→ ψππ is highly suppressed.
