Abstract

ABSTRACT PRESSURIZED, high-frequency irrigation systems can be con-trolled to provide a nearly constant prescribed leaching fraction by use of salt sensors and tensiometers in combination as a dual feedback system. A lysimeter experiment evaluated the optimum depth of sensor placement and provided ex-perience for the appropriate selection of control settings, both of which are strongly dependent on root water uptake distribution.
