Abstract

Holmium doped lithium lead borate glasses of different compositions were prepared by conventional melt quenching technique. The effect of irradiation on optical, structural and luminescent properties were studied. The measured optical direct and indirect energy band gaps of after irradiation were in the range of 2.46 eV to 2.74 eV and 0.53 eV to 1.25 eV respectively. The energy band gaps were decreases with rare earth concentration and also the energy gap values were less compared to the before irradiation. Hence we can say that our prepared samples were insulating in nature and they becoming semiconducting nature after irradiation process.
