Abstract
Structural changes in the iron-manganese mixed oxides system under synthesis conditions were studied after different pretreatment processes. The catalysts with a low content of manganese and a high degree of reduction showed the highest activity at the beginning of the synthesis. During an operating time of 200 h the catalysts were oxidised and carburized. High temperature reduced low manganese catalysts deactivated during carburization whereas high manganese catalysts possessed a stable activity. Small amounts of manganese enhanced the formation of olefinic products.
