Abstract

The paper investigates the role of low- and high-order harmonics, superposed to a 50 Hz fundamental magnetic flux density waveform, on iron losses in NO Fe-Si laminations. The effect on the fundamental contributions of the losses (classical and hysteresis+excess items) is evaluated by means of a combined finite element - dynamic hysteresis model of the ferromagnetic sheet. A comparison with the prediction of the statistical theory of losses is finally presented and discussed.
