Abstract

This paper investigates the effectiveness of the Cauer circuit modeling for dynamic hysteretic property in iron loss analyses of rotating machines. We apply the method to an interior permanent magnet synchronous motors fed by pulsewidth modulation inverter and compare their performance with a conventional iron loss estimation method based on 1-D finite-element analyses. As a result, almost the same iron loss is obtained by using the Cauer circuit modeling with lower computational cost.
