Abstract
In previous studies on liver and kidney cells we identified a new type of cold-induced cell injury: this hypothermic injury was not mediated by cold-induced alterations of cellular sodium homeostasis and cell swelling, but by an iron-dependent formation of reactive oxygen species. Here, we study whether this type of injury also affects cardiac and vascular cells.
