Abstract

Mechanical alloying was applied in order to prepare (Fe,Cr) 2 O 3 solid solutions at room temperature by high energy milling. The lattice constants of hematite-type solid solutions were compared with that of samples prepared by conventional solid state reaction. A particle size about 20 nm was determined from the profile of XRD lines and TEM observations. Microanalyses by EDX were performed in order to check the chemical homogeneity of the samples.
