Abstract

The archaeological evidence of Iron Age occupation in southeastern Iran is limited. Tepe Yahya is the only site in the region at which extensive Iron Age levels have been exposed. Large mudbrick platforms uncovered there have parallels at Nad-e Ali in southern Afghanistan. Iron Age ceramics from Tepe Yahya, particularly “Burnished Maroon Slipped Ware,” show parallels at sites in Baluchistan and the Oman peninsula.
