Abstract
This article explores the emergence of a new scientific community in Iran. In spite of all the major problems in the country, according to the prevailing international norms (the number of scientific articles published in international journals and their increase throughout the years), there is a remarkable progress made in some scientific fields in Iran during the last two decades. The aim of this article is to display the identity problems of this new group and their relationship to the Iranian society and the imagined world scientific community at large.
