Ira Burnim celebrated by the Bazelon Center for his decades of legal advocacy at the organization

Abstract

On October 12th, the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law hosted its 2023 Bazelon Awards: “Launching the Next 50 Years in Washington, D.C.,” an in‐person and virtual event. Ira Burnim, longtime legal director and now senior counsel, was celebrated by the Bazelon Center for his decades of legal advocacy at the organization. He's the leading expert in mental health law and is known as one of the top public interest litigators in the United States. He is credited with landmark settlements that changed the world for people with mental disabilities.
