Abstract

By the method of IR spectroscopy the interaction of various π-complexes of transition metals with proton donors in liquid Xe solutions at 165–270 K have been studied. Perfluoro-tert.-butanol (PFB) and HCl were used as proton donors, since they are not associated in liquid Xe. Ferrocene and its alkyl derivatives form H-bonds of OH… π type with PFB with participation of π-electrons of the cyclopentadienyl ring. For carbonyl and nitrosyl complexes the new types of H-bonding MCO…HA and MNO…HA with the oxygen atoms of carbonyl and nitrosyl ligands have been found. It is shown that H-bond with the oxygen atom might be the first step in the reaction of proton transfer to the metal atom.
