Abstract

The technological development achieved in instruments and methodologies, which are concerned flights and ground hypersonic experiments (employed in space plane planning), entails updating and standardization of heat flux measurements. In fact, the possibility to simulate high enthalpy flow, which are relative to re-entry conditions in hypersonic arc-jet facility, requires devoted heat fluxes measurement methods. The aim of this work is to demonstrate that InfraRed (IR) thermographic measurements with the new heat flux sensor (IR-HFS) can be used as powerful tool in hypersonic high enthalpy flow research.
