Abstract
An IP-based real-time transmission system for chromatic medical ultrasound active images is presented. This system separates the luminance and chromatic signal of the image, and an adaptive segmentation method is used for the image compression. On the server side, a PC is used as a platform for operations and management. The DSP boards, inserted into the PCI slot of the PC, implements the real-time image compression, while the PC implements image sampling, data scheduling, client authentication, image data management and transmission. The client is totally implemented on a PC, it sets up a remote connection, receives and decodes the code, displays and stores the image data. When running on the network, the speed is 10/spl sim/12 frames per second and the quality of the rebuilt images meets the medical requirement.
