Abstract

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a communication system that facilitates data transmission from one mobile node to another without the support of any fixed infrastructure. MANET design may utilize one or more transmission techniques and other systems such as the Global Positioning System that aid in the MANET operation. The recently introduced Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular network provides improved capacity, coverage, reduced latency, and higher peak data rates. The design of MANET utilizing LTE provides an improved approach over previous cellular technologies. LTE has been designed to facilitate MANET concepts, reduced operational costs and permit quick deployment. 4-N Intelligent MANET routing algorithm proposed in earlier work[4] has been enhanced in this paper by incorporating Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) address association and deployed in LTE as the transmission medium. The improved MANET algorithm is called the IP Address Associated 4-N Intelligent Routing (IPAA4NIR) algorithm. The algorithm was simulated using OPNET Modeler v16.1 and results are presented. Comparative analysis is provided through the modeling of MANET algorithms found in the literature.
