Abstract

Borewell is the primary water source in places with water scarcity. However, exhausted borewells that remain unclosed constitute a significant cause of animal and children's death. There is no proper mechanism to rescue the children from the borewell in a safe manner. To address the aforementioned challenge, this research study proposes a IoT based child rescue system to rescue children in a harmless and reliable manner. In this work, a prototype control module is built with an Arduino microcontroller, motor driver Integrated Circuit, LCD display, power supply unit, function buttons and control switches. A precautionary step is proposed in this paper to prevent the child/animal from falling into the borewell. The proposed system successfully fulfills all the objectives toward safely rescuing the child from a borewell. A stuffed doll is used as a test object to observe the performance of the proposed system. When compared to the conventional techniques, the proposed model offers satisfactory results in performing the rescue operation in an efficient manner within a short span of time.
