Abstract
Internet of things (IoT) is one of the vast fields of science often confused with automation, where automation is just a mere part of its parent field IoT. Generally, it can be summed up as anything and everything that can be controlled with minimum or no human effort. IoT is no longer just a mere theory; however, it has attracted significant attention from many researchers in the fields of technological advancements. Every big player, whether in the internet industry or not, is spending millions of dollars on research innovations in the same field. Be it Google’s “home,” Amazon’s “Alexa,” or Apple’s “Home-pod,” all are the results of advancement in the field of IoT. Even with all these advancements, it is not to overrule the fact there are some serious drawbacks such as the mishandling of data, the need for a skilled person to overlook the entire platform, the high cost of implementation, and serious security risks imposed by phishers and hackers, ensuring the fact that no doubt IoT has come a long way but there is still a long way to go. In this chapter, the implementation of IoT in healthcare industry and its various applications in the field of technological advancements have been discussed in detail.
