IoT Based Smart Door Unlock and Intruder Alert System

Abstract

In this digital era, security and safety has become a greatest concern. It may be either data security or home security. Doors act as defense mechanisms against burglars. Therefore, door security system is very much needed to enhance home security. Earlier people used to lock their houses using keys, but if residents forget to lock their homes it may lead to thefts. To overcome this challenge, this research work utilizes the advanced Internet of Things (IoT) technology to improve home security.It is essential to let the right people inside like friends and family and keep the intruders out and to ensure this, a facial recognition-based door lock system is used. In addition to houses, this system can be implemented at the workplace, college campus, etc. Facial recognition is the easiest way to unlock the door as one doesn’t need to make any physical efforts to open the door lock and just needs to look into the camera. The electromagnetic lock on the door will unlock if the image is present in the database. A security alert message in the form of an email is sent to the owner of the house in the case of an intruder.
