Abstract
Wireless technologies and body area networks are constantly growing with the help of IoT. Body Area Network has been widely applied for ubiquitous health monitoring under the IoT framework. This phenomenal expansion has significantly broadened the reach of the Remote Health Monitoring system. The implementation of an automated system for health monitoring using IoT sensors will improve patients’ quality of life. In this paper, a real-time health monitoring system is proposed which comprises of a device and two android applications where IoT sensors (Temperature sensor, Pulse Sensor, and Oximeter) are incorporated to collect health data. The data measured by the sensors are evaluated by the microcontroller and then sent to the android application using a Bluetooth module. This system has a critical-circumstances alert that will be activated if the sensor value exceeds the predefined threshold value. The proposed system enables storing of measured data, which can be advantageous for future data analysis and will assist a doctor in making decisions based on the measured data. However, after evaluating the system on ten persons, we have discovered a maximum error rate of 1.93% for Temperature sensor, 8.82% for Pulse sensor, and 2.04% for Oximeter while assessing health data.
