Abstract

For getting maximum efficiency of IC engine, periodical changing of engine oil is one of the important requirement. Engine performance can be maintained effectively, if the adulteration level of engine oils is monitored regularly. The paper describes an IoT based engine oil sludge monitoring device and its operational methodology. A unique colorimetric detection method using thin film silver coated mirror arrangement for affordable and better detection of RGB concentration in oil has described. The developed device is capable to generate an indication of RGB grading and continuously transmit the level of sludge concentration in oil to the user. The developed instrumentation will help the users to take appropriate decision about the replacement of engine oil so that engine life cycle and carbon footprint can be maintained. RGB sensor is used for color detection of sludge concentration in Engine oil.
