Abstract

During periods of partial counter electrojet, i.e. when ΔH at an equatorial station is positive but lees than ΔH at a non-equatorial low latitude station, the scatter echoes of VHP radio wares from the E-region of the ionosphere are shown to disappear. These events are suggested due to simultaneous flow of eastward current near the peak ionication level of the E-region and the westward current at the base of the E-region.
