Abstract
A crossed-beam coincidence counting technique incorporating time-of-flight spectroscopy, previously developed in the authors' laboratory, has been used to determine the cross section for ionisation of H(1s) atoms by C6+ ions at 400 keV amu-1. The result is compared with previous measurements for bare nuclei projectiles and with recent theoretical predictions.
